A western revenge movie: Seraphim Falls
May 29th, 2007 by Bill
I watched Seraphim Falls the other night and loved it. I think others will too, unless they really have a burr in their behind about westerns.
Yes, it’s a western and, yes, it curiously stars a couple of Irish guys, Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan, and both are brilliant in it. And if for nothing else, Pierce Brosnan should get kudos for the rather physical performance he gives. I hope he got a good paycheck for this one because it certainly seems like he worked for it.
I’m rushed here now so let me just say this is the old western revenge movie thing, along the lines of those films Clint Eastwood use to do. The movie is totally centred on Brosnan and Neeson. Carver (Neeson) is basically hunting down Gideon (Brosnan) with revenge on his mind.
The movie works the theme well. And the cinematography is gorgeous.
Well worth seeing. (I admit, however, to having some bias: I love westerns when they are well done, as this one is.)
