The Adventures of Indiana Jones
directed by Steven Spielberg, 1981 -1989

People have been waiting for these movies on DVD for quite a while. Now they are here, the question is: was it worth the wait? The answer is yes, and no. It sort of depends on your perspective.

To put it simply and concisely, the movies are absolutely great. The DVD bonus material is merely okay. Personally, I care more about the movies, a lot more, than the bonus material so for me the collection is fabulous. The image and sound are excellent.

But what about those movies?

Seen together, I think you can perceive some interesting things. For instance, you can see Steven Spielberg developing as a director. I think you see him maturing. Part of that development, I think, is a drifting apart from George Lucas, at least artistically.

To give the DVD bonus materials their due, I think this comes across, albeit obliquely.
